be grateful.

It’s our homes, our families, and our friends. It’s our cars, our jobs, and our schools. The truth is, there is much in life to be grateful for, but how often do we stop and say “thank you Lord” for wh

Many times we take for granted important things that, without them, we might find ourselves, as my grandmother would say, “between a rock and a hard place”.

It was a beautiful day. A “sunroof open” kind of day. I decided to go to McDonalds for lunch because it was quick and easy. I got there, received my food, sat down and ate while being glued to my new addiction of “Draw Something”, an application on my iPhone. I finished my food, threw away my trash and walked over, as anyone would, to refill my cup with some refreshing diet coke. As I was filling up, I noticed my straw was dripping excess coke onto the counter. Before I knew it, there was a middle aged woman dressed proudly in her McDonalds uniform. I quickly apologized for the mess I made as she began to wipe it up with a towel. Now friends, this is what caught me off guard. It was a response I didn’t expect. Without skipping a beat the woman responds. “Honey, it’s job security… As long as I have something to clean up… I have a job.”

As I left the restaurant, I pondered while asking myself the question, how many things do we take for granted each day? I believe this woman was truly grateful for her job at McDonalds and we could all learn something from her. May we begin to count our blessings each day thanking God for the very breath we breathe.

What are you grateful for?

Let me know what you think.

The Splendor of His Majesty

“In the splendor of Your Majesty
from deep within my sprit sings, Holy”  -Tye Tribbett

When I’m asked the question, “What causes you to worship?”, I can’t help but think about the splendor of God’s majestic creation. Whether it be witnessing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, observing the beautiful hills of West Virginia on a bright sunny day, or  hearing a glorious piece of art in the form of music, all three of these experiences are loaded with the fingerprints of God and they cause me to worship.

Every once in a while I’ll walk outside, look up ,and see what very well may be colors that I’d never seen before painted in the sky. It’s breathtaking. Almost as if God himself is gently whispering, “look what I can do.” What an incredible creative God we serve.

Psalm 95:3-7 says:

3 For the LORD is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,   and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.

6 Come, let us bow down in worship,   let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care

What causes you or helps you worship?

Diamond-Like Worship Values

What an incredible service we had yesterday morning at King’s River Worship Center. Pastor Ron began a series titled, “Values are Forever”. He began the series by showing us that like diamonds last forever, so do values. Ironically,  along the same theme  and idea of Diamond-like values, God had been already birthing inside of me Diamond-like Worship values.

John 4:23 says,”Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” Basically, this verse is saying three things;

1. True worshipers worship the Father

2.True worshipers worship in spirit and in truth

3. The Father seeks True worshipers

Yesterday morning during both services we introduced a new song to the congregation. I felt a little uneasy about the song, but I knew it was a great song and other churches had been doing it.  The song was filled with energy,had  a great positive message, and was a lot of fun to play and sing. But the song lacked one very important thing. It did not worship the Father. It’s amazing to me how God always seems to lines certain things up in life all at once to show you something. I realized He had already been whispering into my heart about this song, and with Pastor’s message, I knew this was God. I can honestly say, we will probably not do this song again, unless of course Pastor says, “Hey David, can you please give us a song that doesn’t necessarily focus on worshiping God, but makes us all feel good about ourselves?” . But I seriously doubt that would happen.

It’s time for worship song writers to start writing worship songs, instead of pep rally-motivational speakerish- “you’re gonna make it” songs that leave everybody feeling good till about 2 hours after they leave the service. I believe that if we target the heart of God instead of the heart of man in songwriting, The real presence and power of God will show up in such a way, that instead of leaving a service “encouraged, we will leave “transformed”.

To all worship leaders that read this blog, please partner with me in making the heart of God our target even in corporate worship. When it would seem our goal would be to get the room to sing or even get the room to worship, in all reality, our goal is to get the body to follow us after Gods heart. Since God seeks true worshipers that worship HIM, let’s make this a diamond-like worship value.

Blessings,

David Rosenblum
